At launch, Postnavo will

  • schedule Bluesky posts and threads beside your other networks
  • flag a draft that passes 300 characters before it is scheduled
  • turn an X thread into a Bluesky thread for you to adjust
  • let your agent schedule a daily post from your RSS feed

Bluesky rules for scheduled posts
RuleWhat Bluesky documents
Account and access Any Bluesky account. Bluesky says applications with their own login flow should use OAuth, and that single-purpose tools such as bots may use an app password.7
Post text 300 characters counted as graphemes, and no more than 3,000 bytes.1
Images and video The images embed holds up to 4 images of 2 MB each. The post schema also lists a gallery embed of up to 20, which Bluesky asks clients to keep to 10 for now. A video is one MP4 of up to 300 MB and needs a verified account email.2369
Alt text Every image and every video has an alt text field. The schema sets no length for it.23 Alt Text Character Limits for Every Social Network
Link previews The card is fetched and embedded by the client that creates the post, not added by Bluesky afterwards.4 Bluesky Link Preview Not Showing? Causes and Fixes
Published limits Writes are scored: 5,000 points an hour and 35,000 a day for an account, with 3 points for each record created. That is at most 1,666 new records an hour and 11,666 a day.5
Automation Bluesky’s developer guidelines count automated or bulk interactions that notify someone, such as follows, likes and replies, as spam.8

What Bluesky’s API lets a scheduler publish

A Bluesky post is a record in your own repository with two required fields: the text and createdAt, a timestamp the client declares. Around the text sit optional parts: links and mentions marked as facets, a list of languages, up to eight extra tags, and one embed. The post schema lists six kinds: a set of images, a gallery, a video, a website card, a quoted record, and a quoted record together with media.

A thread is a set of replies. Each reply names both its parent and the root post of the thread, so a scheduler publishes the posts one after another and carries those two references along.

The limits Bluesky publishes

Writes are limited for each account with points, 3 for a created record, against 5,000 an hour and 35,000 a day. Bluesky says the limit should not affect typical users and is aimed at prolific bots. Signing in is limited too: 30 sessions per 5 minutes and 300 a day for an account.

Video has its own account-level limits: the account’s email must be verified, and Bluesky caps video posts per day without stating the number. Bluesky is an open network, and it notes that other providers are likely to set different limits.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I schedule Bluesky posts?

Postnavo is launching with Bluesky scheduling for single posts, and it is launching with thread scheduling too. On Bluesky a thread is a chain of replies, each pointing to the post before it and to the first post.

How will my AI agent post to Bluesky through Postnavo?

Once Postnavo launches, you connect an MCP-compatible agent, or a coding agent through the CLI, and ask for Bluesky posts: one a day from your feed, or a thread from a longer piece. Drafts over 300 characters are flagged before anything is scheduled.

How does Bluesky count its 300 characters?

In graphemes, the units a reader sees as one character, so an emoji built from several code points counts once. The post schema also caps the text at 3,000 bytes.

Does a scheduler need a Bluesky app password?

Bluesky’s documentation says applications with their own login flow should use OAuth, and that single-purpose tools such as bots or command-line tools may use an app password instead. How Postnavo connects is published at launch.
