Gemini at a glance

From Google’s Gemini Apps Help and the Gemini CLI docs, read on 2026-10-12. Postnavo is not released yet, so none of this was run against it.

How to connect Gemini

Illustrative — final endpoints and commands are published at launch.

  1. In the Gemini app: on a computer, go to gemini.google.com and open Settings, then Connected Apps. Google notes it may sit under Personal Intelligence.[1]
  2. Under “Custom apps”, enter the Postnavo MCP server URL (https://mcp.postnavo.com — final URL confirmed at launch), click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.[1]
  3. In a chat, enter @ and select the custom app so Gemini uses it for that prompt, then ask it to schedule a post.[1]
  4. In Gemini CLI: run gemini mcp add --transport http postnavo-mcp https://mcp.postnavo.com (final URL confirmed at launch).[3]
  5. Use /mcp auth in a session to manage the OAuth sign-in, and /mcp to see the server and its tools.[3]

Gemini custom apps, Gemini CLI and confirmations

The Gemini app takes custom apps, on conditions

Google’s help page says you add a custom app “with its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server URL in the Gemini web app”. You can only connect it on the web; once connected, it is available in both the Gemini mobile app and the web app.[1]

The conditions are specific. You must be 18 or over and in the US, signed in with a personal Google Account, with Keep Activity on. For now the feature is not available with a work or school Google Account, and custom Connected Apps are only available in English.[1]

If the server does not support Dynamic Client Registration, Google has you open “Advanced features” and enter credentials yourself.[1]

If those conditions rule you out, Gemini CLI is the other route Google documents. Navo, the agent built into Postnavo, is launching on every plan as well.

Gemini confirms write actions with you

Google states it plainly: “Currently, Gemini requires manual confirmation for any write actions, but Gemini can make mistakes.”[1]

Scheduling a post is a write action, so by that rule Gemini asks you first. Postnavo is launching with its own approval setting too.

Google also says it does not control, monitor or secure third-party MCP servers, and that you are responsible for supervising the one you connect. You can disconnect a custom app, or unlink its server from your Google Account, in the same Connected Apps settings.[1]

Gemini CLI: a settings file and a trust flag

Gemini CLI keeps MCP servers in settings.json: ~/.gemini/settings.json for your user, or .gemini/settings.json for a project. gemini mcp add writes the entry, and its default scope is the project.[3]

It supports Stdio, SSE and Streamable HTTP transports, and OAuth 2.0 for remote servers. OAuth tokens are stored in ~/.gemini/mcp-oauth-tokens.json.[3]

Each server has a trust setting, false by default. While it is false you are asked before a tool call and can proceed once, always allow that tool, always allow that server, or cancel. Setting trust to true bypasses all tool call confirmations for the server.[3]

Postnavo is launching with a server that can publish to your accounts. Leaving trust off keeps you in the loop.

Skills in Gemini CLI

Gemini CLI has Agent Skills. gemini skills install takes a Git repository or a local directory, and user skills live in ~/.gemini/skills/ or the ~/.agents/skills/ alias.[4]

When Gemini decides to use a skill, you see a confirmation prompt with the skill’s name, its purpose and the directory path it will gain access to.[4]

Postnavo’s CLI and agent skill are launching for coding agents. How the skill installs in Gemini CLI is published at launch.

Scheduled actions in the Gemini app

The Gemini app can run a prompt on a schedule. You can have up to 10 active scheduled actions at a time, and Keep Activity has to be on.[2]

If a scheduled action uses another app, “that app must be connected”. Google adds that responses are prepared in advance, so scheduled actions “work best for daily summaries and wrap-ups”.[2]

A morning summary of what goes out today fits that. The posts themselves are timed in the calendar Postnavo is launching with, not by a Gemini action.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Gemini integration available now?

Not yet. Postnavo is launching soon with an MCP server and a CLI. The steps on this page are Google’s current ones with an illustrative Postnavo address. Join the waitlist to get access first.

Can I connect Postnavo to Gemini with a work Google account?

Not in the Gemini app today: Google’s help page says custom apps need a personal Google Account and are not available with a work or school account for now. Gemini CLI is set up separately, in a settings file. Postnavo itself is launching soon.

Does the Gemini app support custom apps outside the US?

Google’s requirements, read on 2026-10-12, say you must be 18 or over and in the US, and that custom Connected Apps are only available in English. Navo, the agent Postnavo is launching with, has no such condition.

Will Gemini post without asking me?

Google says Gemini currently requires manual confirmation for any write action through a custom app, and Gemini CLI asks before a tool call unless you marked the server as trusted. Postnavo is launching with an approval setting as well.

Should I use the Gemini app or Gemini CLI with Postnavo?

Either. Postnavo is launching with a server both can use: the app takes its URL under Connected Apps on the web, and the CLI takes one command in a terminal.
