Pinterest Scheduling Limits: How Many Pins, How Far Ahead

By , Founder ·

Sources checked on October 12, 2026 · 21 sources

Pinterest’s own scheduler lets a business account keep up to 10 Pins scheduled at a time, each up to 30 days ahead, and you schedule them one at a time. That is what Pinterest’s help page says, checked October 12, 2026. Pinterest has two other tools of its own, a CSV upload of up to 200 Pins with a publish date for each and RSS auto-publishing, though it does not say whether CSV-scheduled Pins count toward the ten. Buffer and Tailwind, two scheduling tools Pinterest names as API partners, state queue limits of their own.

Every Pinterest figure below is quoted from Pinterest’s own pages or archived copies of them, and each tool’s figure from that tool’s page, all read on October 12, 2026. Where those pages say nothing, this post says “not documented” instead of guessing.

Pinterest’s scheduling limits at a glance#

Pinterest’s help articles carry no “last updated” date, so the day a page was read is the only date this post can give.

Question What Pinterest says Read from
How far ahead? Up to 30 days. One other Pinterest page says two weeks. Schedule Pins
How many Pins can wait at once? Up to 10 Schedule Pins, Create blog
How many per scheduling action? One Schedule Pins
Which account type? A business account, which is free Schedule Pins, Get a business account
What can you change once scheduled? “the publish date, title, board, description and link” Schedule Pins
What can you not change? The image or video Schedule Pins
Which time zone does the date picker use? Not documented. Older copies of the page said “in your current time zone”. None of the pages read
What does the message at 10 Pins say? Not documented None of the pages read
Does a place free up when a Pin publishes? Not documented None of the pages read
Can a tool schedule through the API? No publish-date field is documented: see scheduling tools API reference, API description

How many Pins can you schedule on Pinterest?#

Ten at a time. Pinterest’s help page says: “While you can only schedule one Pin at a time, you can have up to 10 Pins scheduled for the future.” Pinterest’s Create blog repeated the figure on January 28, 2026.

The 10 reads as a count of Pins waiting, not a daily or monthly allowance: the wording is “scheduled for the future”. Pinterest does not spell out when a place frees up. Also not documented:

  • What the message says when you reach 10.
  • Whether Pins scheduled through the CSV upload count toward the 10.
  • Whether several images picked together can each get a publish date in one go. The web steps say “You can select up to 10 images. Each image will create a new Pin.”

How far ahead can a Pin be scheduled?#

Thirty days, on three Pinterest pages: the scheduling article (“You can schedule a Pin up to 30 days in advance.”), the article on creating a Pin and the January 2026 Create blog post.

One Pinterest page disagrees. Pin performance and distribution, read the same day, says: “You can schedule Pins up to two weeks in advance that can be published in the future.” This post does not settle it. Two weeks was the scheduling article’s own figure in 2021: see where two weeks and 100 Pins come from.

The date picker’s time zone and time steps are not documented on the pages read, and neither is whether the 30 days apply to a CSV publish date. For other networks, see how far ahead each network’s own scheduler reaches.

Which accounts can schedule Pins?#

Business accounts only: “With a business account, you can schedule standard Pins for future posting.” The account is free, and Pinterest’s page on business accounts says a personal account can be converted and “You can switch back to a personal account at any time.” A private personal account has to be made public first, because business accounts are public.

You can schedule on the web and in the Pinterest app on iOS and Android. What you can schedule is “standard Pins”, made from an image or a video. The page does not define the term, so which formats are left out is not documented.

What can you change after a Pin is scheduled?#

The publish date, title, board, description and link. Not the picture: “You cannot edit the image or video content of your Pin.” Pinterest’s page on editing Pins says the same of published Pins, so a wrong image means deleting the scheduled Pin and scheduling a new one.

Scheduled Pins sit on your profile, “above all of your published Pins”, and can take a few minutes to appear. To delete one, use the ellipsis icon at the bottom of the Pin, then Delete.

Whether a scheduled Pin can be published straight away is not documented, and neither is what happens when one fails to publish. If a Pin did not go out, start with what to check when a scheduled post does not publish.

What to do when you reach the limit#

The routes run from Pinterest’s own tools outward. Each is described the way its own documentation describes it.

Route How many How far ahead What you need Read from
Pinterest’s CSV upload “up to 200 images or videos” per upload Not documented A business account, a desktop browser Bulk upload Pins
Pinterest’s RSS auto-publish “up to 200 Pins per day” Not a schedule: Pinterest picks the time A business account, a claimed website Auto-publish from RSS
Buffer “up to 10 pins at a time on the Free plan”, “up to 2,000 pins at a time on paid plans” Not documented on the two pages read A Buffer account Buffer help, Buffer product page
Tailwind Your plan’s post allowance (figures not read) “There is no limit on how far ahead you can schedule” A Tailwind account Tailwind help

Upload a CSV with a publish date for each Pin#

Pinterest’s bulk upload takes a spreadsheet of up to 200 images or videos, on desktop only. Its Publish date column schedules a Pin: “If this timestamp is in the future, your Pin will be scheduled to publish on the specific date”. From the same page:

  • The examples are 2023-12-17 and 2023-12-17T08:00:00, and a time is given in UTC.
  • With a date and no time, the Pin publishes “at the same time of day as when you uploaded your .csv file”.
  • An empty Publish date publishes the Pin immediately.
  • A badly formatted date gives an error, and the Pin is not published.

Title (100 characters maximum), Media URL and Pinterest board are required, and Description is 500 characters maximum. You can count both in the character counter. Alt text is covered in alt text limits on each network.

Pinterest does not document how far ahead a CSV publish date may be, or whether these Pins count toward the 10, so do not read the CSV as a way around either limit. It fits anyone who already plans Pins in a spreadsheet, small businesses included.

Let an RSS feed publish for you#

This is not scheduling, because Pinterest picks the time. Pinterest’s help page says a business account with a claimed website can connect RSS feeds “to automatically create Pins from the content on your website”, up to 200 Pins per day, oldest content first. A feed must be RSS 2 or RSS 1: “We currently do not support Atom.”

Pinterest gives two figures for the delay: “within 24 hours” on the help page and “within 24-48 hours” on its Create site. The route fits creators and founders who want each new article to become a Pin.

Use a scheduling tool that connects through Pinterest’s API#

Pinterest’s Create blog names “Third-party content management platforms, like Tailwind, Buffer, Canva and Picsart” as API-connected platform partners.

Pinterest’s API reference documents no publish-date field on its Create Pin request: the request body in Pinterest’s public API description, version 5.28.0, lists eleven fields, none of them a publish or schedule date. So as far as the documentation shows, a tool has to hold the Pin and create it at the time you chose. That is how Tailwind describes its own scheduler: “scheduled Pins publish through Pinterest’s official API at their set times”. Buffer’s two pages do not say how Buffer does it. A Pinterest moderator wrote on June 21, 2023, “Currently, it is not possible to schedule Pins via the Pinterest API.” That reply is three years old, so the API reference is the stronger source.

  • Buffer. Buffer’s product page says “You can schedule up to 10 pins at a time on the Free plan and schedule up to 2,000 pins at a time on paid plans.” That 10 is Buffer’s own plan limit and only happens to match Pinterest’s. Buffer’s help page adds a daily limit of “25 posts per 24 hours for customers who verify their email on Buffer”. How far ahead Buffer schedules is not documented on the two pages read.
  • Tailwind. Tailwind’s help page, last updated August 26, 2026, says “There is no limit on how far ahead you can schedule”. What is limited is your plan’s post allowance and credit balance. Those figures were not read for this post.

Why you may have read two weeks or 100 Pins#

Both were Pinterest’s own figures. Archived copies of the same Schedule Pins page show three versions:

  • June 24, 2021: “up to two weeks in advance in your current time zone” and “up to 100 Pins scheduled for the future”.
  • June 1, 2023: “up to 30 days in advance in your current time zone on Android and iOS, and up to 14 days in advance on desktop”, still with 100 Pins.
  • December 26, 2023: today’s wording, 30 days and 10 Pins, with no mention of a time zone.

A guide written from that page before the change, and not updated since, carries the older figures. The copies show when the page changed, not when the scheduler did.

The 200 figure is real, but it is the size of one CSV upload and the daily limit for RSS, not a limit of the scheduler.

Frequently asked questions#

Can you schedule Pins from a personal Pinterest account?#

No: according to Pinterest’s help page, checked October 12, 2026, scheduling is for business accounts, and a business account is free.

Can you schedule Pins more than 30 days ahead?#

Not in Pinterest’s own scheduler, and how far ahead a CSV publish date may be is not documented. Tailwind’s help page says there is no limit on how far ahead you can schedule in Tailwind, which we have not used.

Why did my bulk-uploaded Pins publish straight away instead of on the date?#

Check the Publish date column against Pinterest’s bulk upload page. An empty date publishes the Pin immediately, the documented formats are 2023-12-17 and 2023-12-17T08:00:00, and a time is given in UTC. If your file matches and the Pins still went out at once, the next step is Pinterest support.

Can you schedule Pins through the Pinterest API?#

Pinterest’s API reference, checked October 12, 2026, documents no publish-date field on its Create Pin request: see what that means for scheduling tools.

Which scheduling tools does Pinterest approve?#

Pinterest’s Create blog post of January 28, 2026 names Tailwind, Buffer, Canva and Picsart, and links Pinterest’s partner directory for the rest. The directory’s list could not be read for this post, so a tool outside those four is not unapproved for that reason.
